Dad, Very-amateur disc-golfer, Guitarist, Sci-fi nerd, DIYer

Mike grew up in Abbotsford but has lived in Vancouver since 2004. His interest in buildings and construction began when he received the King’s Castle Lego set (#6080) for Christmas in 1985. That early spark was further ignited by visiting his dad’s office and construction sites as a child. Throughout his career, Mike has earned a reputation as a creative and collaborative problem solver.

He was drawn to FirstLight because of its mission to decarbonize the built environment, which aligns perfectly with his passion for creating more sustainable buildings. The combination of engaging projects, a collaborative team, and a strong commitment to clients continues to inspire and motivate him in his role.

Mike holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Lakehead University and a Diploma of Technology in Mechanical Systems from BCIT. He is actively involved in ASHRAE, serving on the Standing Guideline Project Committee 36 and as a volunteer for the ASHRAE Center of Excellence for Building Decarbonization.

In his free time, Mike enjoys spending quality moments at home with his family and their dog, Mochi. You can often find him playing complex board games with friends, unwinding at local disc golf courses, recreating iconic '90s guitar sounds on his home-built Telecaster, or tinkering with analog guitar effects.
